There will be a homework club on Mondays starting January 22!  See Mrs. Brewer for a permission slip if you would like to attend and get help with your homework!

The next civil rights team meeting will be on the 22 of January. If you are interested in joining see Mr. Kosak or Mr. Levy for a permission slip. We meet after school on Mondays. It is not required to attend each meeting so don’t worry about the musical or any sports. Currently we are in the process of a Black History Month event and are in need of ideas for spring.

SPORTS:

No Sports today due to early dismissal!

Registration is now open for Wrestling on Powerschool!

BJHS partners with MTA for Wrestling. Practices are held at MTA afterschool. Students will need to have their own transportation to MTA. The season will begin the last week of January. Stay tuned for more info coming soon!

Registration is open for Unified Basketball on Powerschool. Unified Basketball will take place February 5 through the end of March, 2 days per week. We are looking for 5-6 Unified Partners (grades 6-8) to participate (see description below). There will be a referral and interview process with the Coach and Ms. Robbins in order to be part of the team. We are also seeking unified student athletes to participate.

Unified players are as follows:

  • Unified Student Athlete: A student will be eligible as an athlete if that person satisfies any one of the following requirements: i. The person has been identified by an agency or professional as having intellectual disabilities as determined by their localities. ii. The person has a cognitive delay, as determined by standardized measures such as intelligent quotient or “IQ” testing or other measures which are generally accepted within the professional community in that Accredited Program’s nation as being a reliable measurement of the existence of a cognitive delay. iii. The person has a closely related developmental disability. A “closely related developmental disability” means having functional limitations in both general learning (such as IQ) and in adaptive skills (such as in recreation, work, independent living, self direction, or self-care). However, persons whose functional limitations are based solely on a physical, behavioral, or emotional disability, or a specific learning or sensory disability, are not eligible to participate as an athlete, but may participate as a unified partner or other volunteer position.

  • Unified Student Partner: Any student that meets the student eligibility criteria outlined in MPA
