Congratulations to Margaret Chingos for receiving the Maine Seal of Biliteracy! The Seal of Biliteracy is an award earned by graduating students who have demonstrated a high level of skill in English and at least one other language. The Maine Seal of Biliteracy is the first credential students can earn on their bilingual journeys, which can be leveraged in applications for post-secondary education or employment. We hope that students who earn the Seal will continue to develop their language skills and enjoy the opportunities afforded by their linguistic and cultural competence.

SCHOLASTIC ART AWARD WINNERS
Congratulations to the BHS art student winners of the Scholastic Art Competition, the most prestigious and competitive juried art program in the country! Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, young artists in grades 7 - 12 in each of the 50 states, participate in the program along with the many Art educators who support and encourage their creative process. In the Maine Regional Scholastic Competition, our students competed with other students around the state. The work selected was based on judging criteria of originality, technical skill and personal vision. Students who won Gold Keys will have their work juried again for a 2nd tier of judging at the national level.
