  • The Maine Excellence in Arts Education showcase is a statewide event that highlights student artwork.

  • Jay Ackley Grade 12 and Kayla Chen Grade 9 have had their artwork selected by a panel of professional artists to be displayed at this prestigious location.

  • The exhibit is a collaboration between the Maine Arts Commission (a state agency supporting the arts), MECA&D (Maine College of Art & Design), the Scholastic Art & Literary Awards, and Maine's two congressional offices. These organizations provided access to submissions from various art competitions to select the showcased pieces.

  • The exhibit will run from March 12 to May 30, 2025, and will feature artwork from students across the state.

It’s a wonderful honor for Jay Ackley and Kayla Chen to have their work selected for this exhibition at the Capitol!

If Ms. Cav wins, the school will get a visit from Bill Nye The Science Guy!

Attention Seniors!

Midcoast Literacy is looking for a part-time, 10-14 hour/week Summer Books Intern to support the expansion of our Summer Books program in 2025. Summer Books brings free books to children participating in local summer food services programs and summer school programs in midcoast Maine. The intern will work independently to staff program locations in Bath, Brunswick, and Harpswell. The ideal candidate will be ready to engage with parents and children and a friendly and positive way, have an interest in childhood literacy development and/or children’s literature, and access to their own vehicle to travel to program locations.

Program Objectives: The program objectives are to provide children and youth from low-income families in the Midcoast Literacy service area with free, high-quality books and to encourage children and families to read during the summer months when school is not in session.

Position Overview: The intern is responsible for implementing the Summer Books sessions, as developed by the Program Director and led by the Summer Books Coordinator, to meet the objectives of the Summer Books program. Summer Books is a partner activity held at Summer Foods Service Programs sites, local school summer school programs, and ArtVan locations.

Hours: 10-14 hours/week: The expected schedule for the position is 2 days a week from June 23 - August 22, 2025
