Attention BHS high school sophomores or juniors who might be interested in a free outdoor experience like no other with friends of Baxter State Park! We are recruiting applicants for this year's Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program. We are currently accepting applications with a deadline of February 8. The online application and reference form is available on their website at friendsofbaxter.org/mywlp. This exceptional opportunity is free and open to Maine high school sophomores or juniors. It includes a nine-day wilderness experience in Baxter State Park working with a variety of specialists and Park staff to better understand wilderness through science, art, storytelling, photography, writing, history and recreation.

The Brunswick Rec is looking for some help with the Valentine Ball.  Here are the details:

Set-Up is on Friday, February 7th from 4pm until 7:30pm at HBS.  We will probably not need to be there until 7:30pm but it is easier to send people home early than to ask them to stay later.  As many people as would like to help we will take.  We always seem to have more trouble getting volunteers for Friday than we do for Saturday.  With that in mind can we stipulate that volunteers that help on Friday will be given priority for the spots that we fill on Saturday?  Just trying to brainstorm a way to increase the numbers for Friday.

The dance is 5-7pm on Saturday the 8th, and we ask the volunteers to commit to 4pm to 8pm.  We would limit the number of volunteers for the dance to 8 and appropriate attire is required.

To sign up please contact Aaron Cropley acropley@brunswickme.gov

We have a great opportunity with Big Brothers Big Sisters for you to become a mentor at Harriet Beecher Stowe after school on Tuesdays from 3-4:30. You can earn all of your thirty hours if you participate. Attached is a flier that discusses a bit more about the programs and the brief application is online here. Freshmen can apply!       https://www.bbbsbathbrunswick.org/hsbigs/

Being a big brother or big sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the highest, most recognized, and valued, service endeavors one can take part in. This would be an amazing addition to your resume and you will have fun and experience immense personal growth.

Please consider this!!!

Brunswick Bike and Pedestrian Committee Fellow

Brunswick High Schoolers,

Do you ride your bike to school? Are you interested in representing your fellow student cyclists in the pursuit of safe routes to school, all while earning community service hours? Consider becoming a student representative to the BBPAC Safe Routes to School committee. We meet on Zoom once every 2 months, and more often when the weather is nice and we are planning an event (Bike/Walk to School Days, or table representation at community events). Your voices are an integral part of the change we’d like to see made to Brunswick streets. Your advocacy matters; join us. Contact Eric Funderburk <efunderburk@brunswicksd.org> for more information.

Internship in Horticulture at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens for high school students for the Spring and Fall semesters, and we would love to have students from Brunswick High School join us for this opportunity!

We are also currently accepting applications for the 2025 Fall semester, with an application deadline of May 1, 2025.
