The BHS Old English Club had a meeting with the lionized Dr. Thomas Shippey to discuss his work in medieval studies and JRR Tolkein. Shippey has taught Old English and Old Norse for decades at universities in the US and UK, and has devoted much of his retirement to furthering his role as a chief expert in JRR Tolkein's prose. At the meeting members of the Old English club had the opportunity to ask specific questions about his life and work, and it was a fantastic time. After the meeting, Shippey told the group he would "be very happy to do a Part 2" - so stay tuned for more!

Turn Winter Break into a Cozy Reading Retreat! Take the Library's Book Personality Quiz and discover which book personality you have! Then, come to the Library's event next Tuesday during Flex to pick up your Reading Retreat Cozy Kit and book recommendations! The deadline to take the Cozy Kit Quiz is Friday, December 13th, at 2:00. Organized by TAB, the Library's Teen Advisory Board, and made possible by a Brunswick Reads grant from BCEF, the Brunswick Community Education Foundation!
The BHS Choirs will perform their Winter Concert, "Together in Song" on Wednesday, December 18th @ 7:00 PM in Crooker Theater. It will feature the Treble Choir, Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, and Acappella groups. It is free and open to the public! Our repertoire celebrates a diverse range of cultures and will feature pieces in Malay, Spanish, Yoruba, Latin, Hebrew, and Arabic, to name a few! Please join us as we come together to celebrate the power of song! We hope to see you there!

Spring Musical Auditions - The Addams Family!
The BHS Players are excited to begin work on our Spring Musical, The Addams Family! Auditions will take place on December 9th & 10th after school in Crooker Theater. We will have two preparation workshops on Monday, December 2nd, and Thursday, December 5th, from 2:20 to 3:30 in the music room to help learn audition cuts. Music packets can be picked up outside the music room, and sign-ups can be found on the attached poster! Haven't seen the show? We will also have a watch party after school on Tuesday, December 3rd, in Crooker! The show will run two weekends on March 27th-30th and April 3rd-5th! We are looking for singers, dancers, and actors of all levels! This will be a large production, with many opportunities for all those who wish to be a part of it! All those who audition will be cast! Athletic Department Grade Checks:
The halfway point of quarter 2 is this Friday (December 6). All students registered for athletics must be taking at least 6 classes and passing at least 5 to remain eligible for competition.

The Brunswick Boys Basketball Team store is officially open. If you would like to gear up for the upcoming basketball season this is your opportunity. It's a fundraiser for our program, so a portion of all sales will go back to our student/athletes. Thanks for considering. All purchases will be received by christmas.

Internship in Horticulture at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens for high school students for the Spring and Fall semesters, and we would love to have students from Brunswick High School join us for this opportunity!
For the upcoming Spring semester, we are hoping to get applications submitted by January 31, 2025. We are also currently accepting applications for the 2025 Fall semester, with a application deadline of May 1, 2025.

We are looking for students to volunteer to usher performances and live stream concerts. Students who perform either of these tasks for various performances will receive community service hours and admission to the performance free of charge.
