BHS Models Needed for event
Freeport Climate Action Now event: The ReFashion Show. Why is FCAN interested in fashion? The answer is simple: The fashion industry contributes to global climate change. Its share in global carbon emissions is estimated around 10% of total greenhouse gasses released worldwide. In addition, the impact of textile waste on the environment is catastrophic. Clothing has increasingly been considered disposable. In America alone, an estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste is generated every year.
Fortunately, you can make a difference! Fashionable consumers can make ethical, sustainable, climate-friendly fashion choices, and Freeport CAN is hosting a planet-friendly fashion show to show you how!
Learn how you can create a wardrobe built with intention and awareness of where your clothes come from, what they’re made of, and why that matters. We will help you make choices to purchase more affordable vintage and secondhand pieces. The show will feature dozens of models showcasing an array of outfits from our local second hand retailers Kargoes, ReStyle, and Freeport Community Services’s Thrift shop.
The event is Friday, May 31, 2024 at Freeport’s Meetinghouse Arts. Doors open at 6:30, and refreshments will be served. Click on the link to purchase your ticket today!
Contact Laura Hench laurahench@yahoo.com ASAP if you are interested in modeling for this event!
