We're seeking photographs of places in Brunswick throughout the seasons or Brunswick-inspired artwork from BHS students!

Your artwork or photographs of places, landmarks and locations in Brunswick will be used as inspiration for student poets whose poems, along with your artwork, will be displayed in storefronts in Downtown Brunswick during National Poetry Month (April). This year's theme is "Brunswick: The Poetry Place."

Check your phones and/or art portfolios for artwork and photography of places, landmarks, or locations in Brunswick that are special to you and/or the community or create something new!

Submissions are due by Friday, January 12th.

Click here to submit your artwork and/or photographs (use a new form for each submission), or stop by the BHS Library for assistance scanning your original artwork.

BHS Educational Leadership Second Semester - Consider Signing up now with Mr. Wilson & Ms. Myers

What is Educational Leadership?

Ed Leadership is a program that places BHS students as teachers’ helpers in classrooms at Brunswick’s two elementary schools. Its mission is to facilitate mutually beneficial relationships between BSD teachers and BHS students that enhance the educational experience of students in the host classroom.

BHS students’ duties typically include supporting small group learning activities, facilitating the operation of lunch or recess, and helping teachers during their prep periods.  Students enroll in Ed Leadership as a non-credit-bearing class, usually replacing what would have been a study hall.

Who can participate?

Ed Leadership is for students in 10th-12th grade who are curious about working with youth. They must be in good academic standing and be able to sustain a semester-long commitment to their host teacher and students.

What is the student’s commitment?

Ed Leadership is a semester-long commitment. The most fundamental commitment is to being reliable, consistent, professional and communicative with both your host teacher and Mr. Wilson. Participating students are required to write and share short reflections every few weeks, using Google Classroom.

What do I get out of it?

BHS students can submit their classroom time for Community Service credit. Students also develop career readiness skills that will be useful in future jobs.  Finally, most participants report that they find it rewarding to work with young kids. Some even say it’s the best part of their school week!

How do scheduling and transportation work?

The Community Engagement program invites KFS & HBS teachers to opt into hosting students. The CE program also books BSD buses to transport students during period two each day. If a student has their own transportation then they may be approved to drive under their own arrangement.

BHS students are matched with cooperating elementary school teachers based on schedule availability.  Applying for the program does not guarantee there will be a host teacher available at the time you need.
