We are off and running! I had the opportunity to visit each school several times this week, and the atmosphere was electric, filled with excitement and possibilities.

The Brunswick School Department is fortunate to have two dedicated Brunswick Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) serving our schools. They are located at BJHS and BHS, but are a presence and a resource at all our schools. We wanted to update our community on some changes this year.

Officer Nick Bedard is no longer an SRO at the high school. He will now be the BPD Community Policing Supervisor. SRO Malcolm Marshall has moved from the junior high school to be the SRO at the high school. The search for a new SRO for BJHS is in the final stages and we expect to have that position filled very soon. Rest assured that in the meantime our schools are fully supported by the Brunswick Police Department.

Thank you to the staff at Norway Savings Bank for supplying Brunswick Schools with many needed items they collected recently during their School Supply Collection Drive. The Mid-Coast branches are supporting local students in a few districts for the start of the school year. We appreciate community businesses investing in the success of our students.

A Community Flu & Covid Clinic is being held at Harriet Beecher Stowe School on Saturday, September 26th from 9am to 2pm.

• Bring your insurance information with you or fill out the forms ahead of time.
• Students UNDER 19 without insurance are eligible for free vaccinations.
• Paperwork is available on site or in school offices.

Do you plan on volunteering at school for your child or grandchild? Applications must be submitted every school year and if you apply early in the year, you'll be all set come May for the Field Days and Field Trips!

All potential volunteers must complete and submit an application through Volgistics. The link to Volgistics can be found on the Volunteer page of the BSD website. Applicants may select multiple volunteer locations in their application. Applicants should apply ten days before the event or activity for which they would like to volunteer.

I'm proud to work in such a unique and supportive community with amazing young musicians. I'm new to Maine and very excited for what Brunswick has to offer!

What do you like to do outside of work for fun?

Outside of work you can find me performing my own music, trail running, or biking!

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

I've always wanted to meet Mister Rogers- he was also a great musician.

What is something you learned in the last week?

I learned that the wingspan of a bald eagle can be more than 7ft (taller than me!)
